We all know the importance of physical fitness: the long-term benefits of moving our bodies to build up strength and agility. But what about our mental fitness?
Contrary to what you might think, mental fitness is not the same as mental health. It’s about building internal resilience—the ability to shift out of negative thoughts and create a mindset that’s empathetic, curious, and action-oriented. It is about building a deliberate practice so that we can increase our mental flexibility!
If you want to prepare for both challenge AND growth, consider building a mental fitness practice. I invite you to think of your mind like a muscle- it needs a consistent workout routine! Focusing on mental fitness helps you break out of negative thought loops and start living with more purpose and clarity.
Before Mental Fitness ⬇️
I was stuck in a life of “should’s.”
My intuition was buried and I didn’t trust myself. I was denying my true purpose.
After Mental Fitness ⬇️
My values guide my behavior. I structure my days around my purpose.
I’m living in alignment and operating from a place of love.
Your 2025 can look like this too… here’s what you’re going to do to help you get started and stick to it!
1) If your brain feels hijacked by negative thoughts, STOP and breathe. Try the 4+4+4 method of inhaling for 4 seconds, holding for 4 seconds, and exhaling for 4 seconds.
2) Recall times you’ve been resilient before. What served you and what didn’t?
3) Find three potential gifts that can be born out of a challenge you’re currently facing.
The more value we place on increasing our mental flexibility and strength, the more we are able to joyfully engage with our teams, our families, and ourselves.
